Rethinking the Strategy for Complex Gift Agreements

As the total number of gift agreement requests received by NC State’s Office of Donor Services increased, the disruptive impact of the most complex and time-consuming agreements was magnified across the team. To proactively address the issue, our office implemented a multifaceted strategy that reshaped our partnership with development officers, and which included an internal system of prioritization and escalation, easily accessible resources for common issues, and a plan for direct involvement in the negotiation of the most complex agreements.

Learning Objectives

  • Attendees will learn key red flags of gift agreement complexity, as well as key opportunities for standardization.
  • Attendees will learn strategies for restructuring the processing of complex gift agreements.
